PMO Deleted Tweet Describing Chhotu Ram As ‘Messiah of Jats’

The “mindset of dividing people on the basis of caste and creed for votes cannot be removed by merely deleting a tweet”.

The PMO India Twitter handle on Tuesday posted a tweet describing Chhotu Ram as ‘Messiah of Jats’. However, the post was later deleted after Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala raised an objection, The Tribune reported.

“It is my good fortune that I got the opportunity to unveil such a huge and attractive statue of farmers’ voice, Messiah of Jats and Rahbar-e-Azam Choudhary Chhotu Ram,” the PMO said in the tweet, posted in Hindi.

Attaching a screenshot of the tweet, Surjewala said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was confining Rahbar-e-Azam Sir Chhotu Ram to a particular caste. He even underlined that the tweet was reflective of the prime minister’s mindset of vote-bank politics:

Noting that the PMO deleted the tweet, Surjewala on Wednesday said that the “mindset of dividing people on the basis of caste and creed for votes cannot be removed by merely deleting a tweet”.

”The farmers facing injustice every day under his regime cannot be pleased by ‘jumlas’ alone. PM Modi should apologise to the farmers of Haryana and the country,” Surjewala added.
