In First Official Meeting, Priyanka Gandhi Vows to Fight RSS-BJP’s Ideology; Says Their Thought Process Needs to Be Countered
Gandhi is set to visit Lucknow on Monday, February 11.
Priyanka Gandhi attended her first official meeting on Thursday, February 7 after taking charge as the All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary for eastern Uttar Pradesh.
She told her party colleagues that she had vowed to fight the ideology of the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) and BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party’s), Hindustan Times reported.
According to the report, three Congress leaders present at the meeting said that Priyanka Gandhi asserted that the “ideology and thought process” of the saffron party and its parent organisation needed to be countered. Further, Priyanka Gandhi reportedly assured her colleagues even though she was new and inexperienced, she will give her best.
In the meeting, Priyanka Gandhi, and the party’s in-charge for Uttar Pradesh West Jyotiraditya Scindia, were advised by Congress president Rahul Gandhi to not feel pressured.
Speaking to reporters about the meeting, Congress general secretary incharge KK Venugopal said, “We discussed the process of selection of candidates, campaign strategy and alliances, wherever necessary. All our general secretaries and incharges have given their views about their respective states. Finally, we have given an ultimatum that selection of candidates should be completed this month itself.”
