Rahul Gandhi Takes Up Governor Satya Pal Malik’s Offer To Visit Jammu And Kashmir, Ladakh

"We won't need an aircraft, but please ensure us the freedom to travel and meet the people, mainstream leaders and our soldiers stationed over there."

Former Congress party president Rahul Gandhi, on August 13, responded to Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik’s invite to observe the situation on the ground.

Taking to Twitter, Rahul Gandhi wrote, “Dear Governor Malik, a delegation of Opposition leaders and I will take you up on your gracious invitation to visit Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. We won’t need an aircraft, but please ensure us the freedom to travel and meet the people, mainstream leaders and our soldiers stationed over there.”

Gandhi’s response comes a day after Jammu and Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik had asked the Congress leader to fly down to observe the situation. Gandhi had earlier claimed that there were instances of violence in Jammu and Kashmir following the Centre’s bid to amend Article 370.

Malik had said, “I have invited Rahul Gandhi to come here. I will send you a plane to observe (the situation) and then speak up. You are a responsible person, and you should not speak like this.”
