Rajasthan: Urban Development Minister Shrichand Kriplani Says ‘Will Commit Suicide’ If Not Given Votes
While this constitutes pressurising the public, the election commission is yet to take any action against him.
Shrichand Kriplani, urban development and housing minister in Rajasthan has been threatening people in his constituency saying that he would commit suicide if they do not vote for him in the upcoming assembly elections.
Sabrang India reported that Kriplani, who has represented the Nimbahera constituency for quite a few years, has been telling prospective voters that though he has worked hard, he would commit suicide in case they do not vote for him. “…if you do not give me vote, then, I will commit suicide, keep that in mind,” said Kriplani, addressing a rally in Keli and Gadola villages.
The people of Rajasthan are reportedly tired of the lawlessness, growing corruption in the name of development, increasing fear among people and the manner of working of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state.
Reportedly, Kriplani has been making the same statement in all his rallies. A video of Kriplani using such coercion has gone viral on social media platforms. While this constitutes pressurising the public, the election commission is yet to take any action against him.
