Rajasthan Elections: EVM Used For Polling Found Lying On A Road In Kishanganj
Two officers were suspended.
After polling was over in Rajasthan, an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) was found lying in Shahabad area of Kishanganj Assembly constituency in Baran district on Friday, December 7.
The EVM was sealed, which indicated that it was used during the polling process and was not unused (reserve). According to an India Today report, Mugawali village residents noticed that the machine was lying on National Highway number 27 and informed the police.
Later, police took possession of the EVM. Two officials — Abdul Rafeek and Naval Singh Patwari — were suspended on the grounds of negligence, according to ANI.
Initial reports suggested that the Election Commission of India officials called it an “accident”. “It might have fallen off accidentally,” ECI officials said.
