Ram Madhav Confirms: RSS Believes Homosexuality Is Socially Immoral And A Psychological Problem
Madhav seems to think that homosexuality is not an important issue to discuss.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) nominee in the saffron party Ram Madhav on Tuesday said that the RSS’ official stand is that “homosexuality is socially immoral and a psychological problem” as suggested by their top leader Dattatreya Hosabale.
The Wire reported that Madhav attempted to insult senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai at an event in New Delhi by saying that “Your actual worry seems to be that there is no space left for you anymore,” adding, “perhaps, only (with issues like) homosexuality and all that.” Madhav was indicating that Sardesai was a liberal.
When Sardesai asked Madhav to elaborate, he said: “We believe that the criminalisation aspect of Article 377 can be looked in to.” He then asked Madhav whether he concurs with RSS leader Hosabale’s statement that homosexuality is socially immoral and a psychological problem. Madhav said that he will have to ask his RSS colleague about this. However, he added, “If he (Dattatreya Hosabale) has said this, it would be the RSS’s official stand.”
The BJP leader was irked as Sardesai asked him that while the RSS maintains that it is an apolitical organisation, it has vetoed many government decisions in the past. The scribe even cited many instances like the Swadeshi Jagaran Manch, affiliated to the RSS, opposing to foreign direct investment, while the BJP welcomes it.
