Modi Has Installed Cameras in Polling Booths, Will Identify Congress Supporters: Gujarat BJP MLA Threatens Voters
Ramesh Katara also said that the party can identify people through their Aadhaar cards and ration cards.
Following in the footsteps of Union Minister Maneka Gandhi, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Gujarat reportedly threatened people that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has installed cameras in polling booths and those who don’t vote for the BJP will be identified and would not be able to get any work.
Aaj Tak reported that Ramesh Katara, an MLA from Fatehpura made the statement while campaigning for Dahod BJP Lok Sabha candidate Jaswant Bhabhor.
Katara told people that they should press only that button on the EVM which has Bhabhor’s picture and the BJP symbol on it. “There should not be any mistake, this time Modi saheb has installed cameras in polling booths. If you’re seen voting for a Congress, we will discover who is a Congress supporter,” Aaj Tak reported.
The BJP MLA did not stop there. He also said that Modi saheb has put everyone’s pictures on their Aadhaar cards and ration cards through which people can be identified. If less votes are cast at a particular booth, Modi will find out who didn’t vote. “You won’t get work after that,” he reportedly said.
For her comments threatening Muslim voters, Maneka Gandhi was barred by the Election Commission from polling for 2 days. Similarly Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was barred from campaigning for 2 days. However, the crack down appears to have no deterrence on other BJP leaders.
