Acquitted for Murder, Accused in Terror Case, Welcomed By BJP: Sadhvi Pragya Thakur
Aren’t Modi & Shah doing ‘ilu-ilu’ with terror accused?
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday inducted the Sadhvi Pragya Thakur into the party on Wednesday, April 17. The self-styled ascetic announced that she will be contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, which, according to her, is the start of the ‘religious war.’
Zee News reports that Thakur met senior BJP leaders Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Ramlal, and Prabhat Jha at the party’s office in Bhopal. Thereafter she announced her decision to join the BJP.
Talking to media, Sadhvi Pragya said that the election in Bhopal will be fought on the issue of nationalism and that it is the beginning of ‘Dharam Yudh.’
As per NDTV, Thakur said, “I am very happy…. Together we will work to defeat forces working against the interest of the country. We will defeat those who conspire against India.”
BJP is reportedly planning to field her against senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh from Bhopal Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh.
Pragya Singh Thakur had garnered nationwide attention when in 2008 she was arrested and charged in the Malegaon bomb blast conspiracy. 40 people had died in the blast which took place in a Muslim cemetery next to a mosque, and around 150 people had been injured.
She was only granted bail by the Bombay High Court on 22 April, 2017. She is however still on trial, with her co-accused still in jail.
