Armed TMC Men Allegedly Threaten CPI(M) Diamond Harbour Candidate Dr Fuad Halim
In a village in South 24 Parganas district, the TMC men allegedly told the CPI(M) leader and workers that “TMC’s rule is imposed here. No one else will be allowed.”
Around 50 Trinamool Congress (TMC) supporters allegedly threatened and abused Dr Fuad Halim, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI (M)] candidate from Diamond Harbour constituency in South 24 Parganas district, as well as other CPI(M) workers on April 4 in Mollapukur village.
Halim is contesting against Abhishek Banerjee, the nephew of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the sitting MP from the constituency.
CPI(M) leader Sujan Chakraborty told NewsCentral24x7, “Around 40-50 armed outsiders carrying TMC flags started chasing us and threatened us with vulgar language. They said, ‘Who is this candidate? TMC’s rule is imposed here. No one else will be allowed.’”
Chakraborty was campaigning in Mollapukur village along with 25-30 other CPI(M) workers.
Chakraborty added that the CPI(M) workers persisted in their campaign and he expressed his gratitude to the villagers who helped fend off the miscreants.
Chased the situation. Had our meeting completed & leaving out for the next programme. Congratulation to our sympathizers for the courageous stand taken. https://t.co/7ya06LbKUH
