The bank attributed mismatch of signatures as the reason for the bounced cheque.

Alok Mishra, one of the UP Board class 10 toppers, ran into serious trouble after a cheque of Rs 1 lakh given to him by UP CM Yogi Adityanath bounced. Forget the reward, Mishra ended up paying a penalty for the dishonoured cheque.

Mishra had scored 93.5 per cent marks in his UP Board High School results and was ranked seventh in the state. Adityanath had presented him the said cheque for his hard work and achievement, News 18 reported.

The cheque was issued by the District Inspector of Schools, Barabanki, Raj Kumar Yadav and was submitted by Alok’s parents in his account in Dena Bank’s Hazratganj branch in Lucknow on June 5. But, when the money did not get credited in Alok’s account, he contacted the bank and came to know that the cheque bounced.

The bank attributed mismatch of signatures as the reason for the bounced cheque.

Calling it a serious issue, District Magistrate of Barabanki, Uday Bhanu Tripathi said, “Action will be taken if any laxity is found. The matter is related to the chief minister and should have been taken seriously.”
