Uttar Pradesh: 99% Increase In Cases Of Harassment Under Yogi Adityanath
Overall, crimes against women have gone up by 33 per cent under the BJP regime.
Since Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) came to power in April 2017, crimes against women in Uttar Pradesh have increased in every segment.
The fact was revealed in April this year by the Yogi Adityanath government, in a reply to Samajwadi Party MLA Naheed Hasan’s question in the state assembly.
According to the reply, 26 per cent more rapes have been reported in the state between April 2017-January 2018 as compared to April 2016-January 2017.
A shocking 99 per cent increase in incidents of women’s harassment was also reported. 40 per cent rise in cases of assault for outraging modesty was also witnessed.
There has been an increase in the number of deaths due to demand of dowry – from 2084 deaths recorded under the previous government, to 2223 deaths under Yogi’s rule.
After Adityanath led BJP govt came in to power in Uttar Pradesh, as per UP govt’s own data, Rape increased by 26%, assault on women by 40%, kidnapping of women by 35% and harassment of women by 99%.
