Watch: Meerut Cops Mercilessly Thrash Transgender Folk Inside Police Station
SSP Nitin Tiwari said that an investigation would be taken up if the police were found to have used more force than necessary.

Members of the transgender community faced lathi charge from the policemen inside the premises of Meerut’s Lal Kurti police station in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, June 10.
As per reports, the incident took place when two groups of the kinnar community had gone to a house in the adjoining Fawwara Chowk to provide blessings. Once there, however, a dispute erupted between the two groups. The two groups reportedly had territories demarcated, and one of the groups was allegedly in violation of such an unwritten understanding.
Subsequently, the police were called in at the spot. Once at the police station, they reportedly created a ruckus, after which the policemen lathi-charged them.
A video of the incident that went viral shows the cops attacking them violently as the transgender folk ran for cover.
